Dolly did very well...she slept on top of my bed or in the stroller. Keeping
Desi away was a little difficult, but he was only 7 months old. During the
night he removhed some of her stitches, Therapy she tolerated well, with no
problems. It was simple for me to do the leg extensions with her. Surgery was
March 2010. First winter we had some problems but a heated rice pack for 5
minutes and then we did the stretches. No problems this past winter, and she
can run very fast when shecwants to.

No, not me. To the contrary I have known personally a couple of people that
had it done on a Yorkie, and two chis, and it was very successful. I have
heard of others in different groups that it was a very hard thing to go
through, especially during recovery and for the first week, you have to keep
the dog inactive, which is very difficult especially if you have a hyper dog
but they all said it was worth it. I only know of one case where the
recovery has been going on for months and not so successful, but then having
read the constant post, my personal feeling was that this particular Vet
wasn't a good surgeon to begin with. I think it all depends on how servere
the knees are and mainly how good a surgeon the Vet is. All surgeries are
risky for a chi, and it's a heart stop until they come out of the anesthesia

Peggy...wasn’t it you a few years back sharing info about this surgery and
It’s possible failure or lack of effectiveness?? I remember someone posting
a few articles about it...thought it was you...might be something great for
Rebecca to read prior to surgery. I know those articles dissuaded someone at
the time as they were extremely informative. I thought I saved them on my
hard drive but I cant find them now...was it you??

LOL! Love, love, love, the picture! Too much dog for me though, lol. Sorry
to hear that Diego has to through the surgery. Seems I am hearing a lot of
chis going through this again. That is an incredible cheap price. Prayers
for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery. Keep us posted as to how he
does.

Thought I share a cute pic of my hubby with Daisy

Also wanted to update you all on Diego. He has a very bad luxating petella.
I've been shopping for vets to do this surgery. Found one yesterday that is
apparently very good and charges $600 to do it. Some wanted $2500 yikes. The
surgery will be scheduled tomorrow. Hopefully he will heal quickly. I just
feel so sorry for the little guy!
