How sad for little Snookie. I sure hope you aren't breeding her parents
anymore.

Snookie was the runt of my chi Izzy's litter so I fell in love with her from
the beginning. All the other pups kept growing but she didn't lol

Oh Crystal,

God Bless you! Thank heavens there are people like you with such big hearts!
Poor little Snookie, she has had a rough time of it, lucky little one that
you saw past all her problems and gave her enough love to overcome her
handicaps! Thanks for the encouragement, hopefully the home visit will go
well and they will allow me to adopt her!

I have a pack of chis too lol. I have five and my littlest one Snookie has
many issues. She was the runt and wasn't supposed to live but she is a
strong willed little girl. She has a hole in her heart, hydrocephalus, her
bottom jaw is not developed so her tongue hangs out all the time and her
teeth haven't come in all the way. She also has an umbilical hernia and a
very crooked tail because it was broke in the womb. She is 1.8 pounds. I
took her to the vet and they said they were surprised she was alive and not
to expect her to live over a couple of months. She will be a year old in 2
weeks!
I'm so excited for you and for little Daisy. She will be so loved.

Hi Everyone,

I have some exciting news! I think I mentioned quite some time ago that I
had been hoping to get a little male Chi and had also been looking at a tiny
little female who had been in rescue for about 4 months. My husband Rob had
big concerns that bringing another dog into the house would upset the
balance we have with Cooper and Dali. He did agree that Cooper would enjoy
another playmate as he is more playful than Dali wants to be.

I had been visiting the adoptathons every weekend and fell in love with a
little female named Daisy. I spent about 3 hours with her and talking to her
foster Mom. Daisy is extremely fearful, apparently she had been in a puppy
mill but was too tiny to be able to breed. I don't know the full story but
she trembles and has lots of retained baby teeth. The daunting thing is that
the rescue wants $300 to adopt her..this along with her issues made Rob say
no way! He wanted to look at Chi's with less baggage, so we went to see a
little male from a breeder who was looking to sell some of her males. He was
a small little guy, very cuddly and friendly and we thought he would be
great with Cooper. She wanted to breed him one time though, when one of her
females came in heat so that was part of the deal. We would have to wait
another month or so and then she would have him neutered before we could
take him home. This was back in the beginning of January. Finally this
Saturday I get to pick him up! I'm very excited!

All this time though I can't get Daisy out of my head! I keep checking to
see if she has been adopted yet. I saw her a couple of weeks ago at an
adoptathon. I keep talking about her and my husband wouldn't budge. This
past weekend I knew they were having the adoptathon at my local Petsmart I
thought Daisy might be there if she was still available. I couldn't stand
thinking about it so I reluctantly approached Rob and asked if he would ever
possibly consider adopting Daisy. After all the same reservations, he said,
What is it about this dog? I don't get it?" I got pretty emotional talking
about it but I told him that I had just felt such a connection from the
first time I saw her picture online for adoption. I can't explain it, then
after I held her I couldn't forget.

Long story short, he sighed and said, "Oh well I guess if we have 3 then I
guess 4 won't make that much difference! Hurry up and get up to Petsmart and
see if she is still there!"

I raced up to Petsmart and didn't see Daisy at first but then saw that her
foster Mom was holding her and talking to a lady. I asked the lady if she
was adopting Daisy, and that I had come specifically about this dog. She
said she wasn't sure and that she would let me see her if I was interested.
I filled out the application, (which was about as extensive as adopting a
child!) and talked with Daisy's foster Mom for an hour. They are asking for
a home visit before they will consider adopting her out, they will call me
to set it up this week!

So this has been quite an exciting weekend! If this all works out I will
really need all of your help, as now I will have a real pack and want to
introduce the new dogs in the best possible way. I welcome any advice, I'm
going to have my hands full pretty soon! I sure don't want to make Rob
regret agreeing to Daisy . He has been working on expanding the fenced in
area of our yard; we will soon have over 2000 square feet of Chihuahua safe
play area! Sorry to be so long winded but just had to share this!

Hope everyone is having a great Easter and weekend!

Cindy
