The difference there is the chihuahuas and Goldens are not bred to kill and
fight.  It is not inherent in their breeding.  Yes any dog can bite under the
right circumstances but when you add the aggressive breeding, you have maiming
and killing.  My son is a vet tech too and has been nipped many times by the
tinies, but the only breed that put him in the hospital for surgery was a
Pitt.  It bit down on his wrist and locked its jaws and they had to euthanize
him to get him off my son's wrist.  Five surgeries later, his wrist is still a
mess but at least it is still attached to his arm.  He too thinks the breed
should be eradicated..

In the 1970's it was the German Sheperd with the bad rap, in the 1980's it was
Doberman & Rottweiler, 1990's the Pitbull.  All are powerful and intelligent
breeds, but  no matter the situation, it is always the responsibilty of the
owners/handlers of these dogs.
My daughter is a vet tech, many of the dogs that bite while in for vet visits
are toy breeds.
All dogs are to be considered unpredictable and capable of biting.
With proper upbringing and training, Pitbulls are an exceptional dog for
responsible owners.
We should all remember that a Golden Retriever is capable of attacking a d
mauling a child or small animal.  So don't blame the breed, blame the people.

Yes..my heart goes out to anyone who has seen firsthand the damage this breed
can do.  You hear over and over it is because of the owner's irresponsibility
that these tragedies happen.  And that is part of it.  The other half is the
mentality of the people who buy and breed these dogs.  Why would anyone
deliberately choose to have an animal with this viscious, unpredictable
temperament in their lives?? Yes you can take precautions..chain the dog..keep
it separated..train it..etc.  but they still maim and kill.  Children, adults,
pets, it doesn't seem to matter.  They are like a ticking time bomb. I
personally am participating and helping in any and all legislation and fund
raising and petitions that will get these dogs out of residences so the public
is not subjected to the horror they can cause.  We are the victims until this
is accomplished and have to live with the memories.

fearful of these 2 pits that I am ready to contact animal control to see if any
action can be taken to protect me & my pets. A few years ago they lived in a
different home & had one pit & he killed a rott & they bragged about how they
could hear the bones crunching as their dog refused to release his grip on the
other dog which had to be put down at the vets office due to the severity of
his injuries. I am pretty passive & try to let things slide, but I'm at the
point now that I'm really, really, scared & something has to be done to protect
my neighborhood, my pets & my family. I'd probably do something awful if their
pits ever got one of my babies!!
