The girls go with us regularly in our RV on monthly trips, and they love it.
Our last trip, Gracie encountered an unwelcome guest, a TICK!! I normally
search them after visiting heavily wooded areas, and I did this time as well.
Didn't find anything at time of search. However, exactly 7 days after
returning home, while massaging Gracie, I felt a tiny lump on her hind leg.
Grabbed my glasses, and sure enough, found Tick attached. Removed it
immediately. This concerns me, because this means she probably had this little
hitchhiker attached all week.
I usually use Advantage II, but this month have changed to the Advantix. Just
hope and pray little Gracie does not get a disease from the bite she got.
I have heard about Preventic collars containing Amitraz, but also know that
this is a strong poison, and it is not recommended for chihuahuas.
We love traveling, but this freaks me out, ticks on my babies!
