I actually got quite a bit of help from my Vet...she not only gave
excellent tips but also referred me to a trainer who was reasonable. One
tip that worked until JJ was more comfortable with people was that we kept
a small crate in the living room--door open (we actually keep them there
all the time, in case one of them gets sleepy and wants to go "nest").
When company came over, we put him in the crate and closed the door. He
felt safe, and was still able to see the perceived "threat". Gradually,
over time, he learned the scents of those who came over. He no longer runs
into a room to hide..I know it takes patience, but it's worth it. Good
luck!

Linda, Layla and JJ
