None of my dogs are overweight since I feed them the amount of food they need
not the amount they want. Carrots, green beans and cukes make low cal snacks.
My little dogs range from 4-6 1/2 pounds and get about 1/2 cup per day split
into 2 "meals" but when I leave for work they get a few kibbles, carrots,
dental treats with p-nut butter smeared on them or similar in a little Kong.
The 4 little guys get crated for safety and the other 3 are loose and get their
own stuffed Kongs tucked into bookcases and under tables etc to work on while I
am gone. If she wants 3 meals and you want to feed her 3 but feed her less. Add
green beans to her meals, carrots, cuke slices or PURE pumpkin. Toss her dry
food around the house semi hidden so she uses calories hunting. My 2 Chis are 9
mos and 4 yrs so wrestle a lot. Plus 9 mos Alice loves to play fetch. I do obed
training with all my new dogs, Alice just got her AKC CGC title(I got her about
2 mos ago) and Monte(adopted 2 weeks ago) starts next Wed so doing obed which I
do mostly inside plus trick training uses calories. I use a hula hoop and
tension rods in doorways for jumps. If you have stairs, which we don't have in
Florida, go up and down the stairs, lots of exercise there. When I lived in Ct
I tossed toys down the cellar stairs for my MinPins and toy Poodle to retrieve
in the winter. I did my obed routines down there too. I have trained and titled
my dogs since I got them at 14 yrs old. Since few dogs can feed themselves her
weight is in your hands not her paws.
