I have trouble with Gracie being overweight. She needs to lose. I have
struggled with weightloss for her for a very long time. I even paid to have
her thyroid checked, but it was ok. Her mother and her Aunt were both the same
way, fat little chihuahuas.

Last year, Gracie had one her blood values slightly elevated, which threw a red
flag for my vet to believe she was in the beginning stage of Cushing's Disease
. However, we have checked a few more times, and the value remains the same,
and she is not symptomatic. So now my vet says he is not concerned about
Cushing's, but it would have explained her being overweight.
Anyway, I just started Gracie on a new food created by Hill's called Metabolic.
This is a diet food that helps increase her metabolism. So far she has lost 1
pound in 3 weeks. My vet tells me that is good, equivalent to a human losing
about 5 pounds. I also began offering her green beans or carrots for her
treats. She seems to be satisfied with this.

Gracie is 7 years old, her weight became an issue these past 3 years. I sure
hope to she can lose, for I am aware of all the risks of being over weight.
