Subject: Re: [Chihuahuas] Hello-I'm introducing myself
Bless you for adopting a rescue. I volunteer at a kill shelter during
the summer when we are in Michigan. Fortunately they rarely euthanize the
little ones unless they are really unadoptable. It is so hard not taking them
all home. I have strict instructions from my daughter that I will not become a
hoarder!! HA! I try to make their days at the shelter as pleasant as possible!

Welcome to the group. I own a pack of rescued dogs including 11 Mon old
Alice who I got about 4 mos ago and 4yr old Monte who I adopted almost 9 weeks
ago. I have been doing dog rescue for over 30 yrs and used to train, show and
title in AKC and Schutzhund/PP. Now I work nights and weekends so just title
dogs to CGCs when I adopt them and get their TTs when I can. Unfortunately
Chihuahuas are the second highest breed to be euthanized in shelters and
Florida where I live is overflowing with them. Monte is only 4yrs old, 4.5 lbs,
housebroken, very outgoing and social with kids, dogs and people plus got his
CGC with 7 weeks of training and first place in his class for his drug sniffing
trick. But he was going to be dead in 2 days nonetheless when my g/f and I went
to the shelter to look at another dog. So I adopted him, on sale for
$50..lol... and when he proved to be such a great dog and Alice's playmate
decided he could stay.

My name is Bonnie and I'm pleased to have found this group. I have two
rescued cats, a chinchilla, and my rat rescue. This year I will be adding an
adopted chihuahua, so I'm learning as much as I can about them. When I do talks
with the rescue, one of the most important things I pass along is, "are you
ready for a particular animal? Find out as much as you can first to see if it
is the right fit!" My landlord has approved the addition of a dog, and when I
feel I'm fully ready, I'll bring home a chi. I'm excited! I live in
Pennsylvania.
