Sometimes I think that people misunderstand a dogs growl. Growling is a way
of communicating. Not all growls are aggressive. I think the circumstance
tells more of what a dog is saying then the actual growl. In your Incident I
think there growls are the same as a human saying ''Hey, watch what you are
kicking'' lol! But a snip, or bite is another story and I personally wouldn
t tolerate it, because they do have the option of letting out a bark as a
warning or licking your toe to let you know you almost hit them.

I don't allow my girls to sleep with me and I have a whole list of reasons
why, but that is just me. Hurting them is on top of my list since I am a
very restless sleeper and I need my room!

All of my MinPins, past and present and my 2 Chis growl at the other dogs
and sometimes me when disturbed in our bed. It makes turning over a peace
keeping mission and I realized awhile ago I apparently don't turn over in my
sleep. Moving a foot under the blankies has gotten my toes snapped at..lol.

My Chi, Max, was "unadoptable". He was on the Euthanasia list to be killed
the day we went to the shelter. He is fear aggressive. We adopted him
because of this, his issues were something we felt we could deal with. He
adores us. I have taken him to school, I take him to the beach and dog park.
He still has issues but we keep trying. We just warn people he doesn't care
to be approached. He still growls when we take him out from under his covers
or out of his bed. He still dislikes large dogs but keeps his peace as long
as they leave him alone.

We love him despite his issues.

Susie
