It used to be common to tattoo the male and female signs in a circle with a 
line thru it. Tattooing is easy, I did lots of dogs for the shelter but my last 
tattooed bunch we had a human tattoo person do. My SS# is reg with National Dog 
Registry so all my dogs were always tattooed. Some dog shows have tattoo 
clinics.
