My Desi has started having some problems with his spine. Sometimes when I hold
him, or try to move him a tiny bit he will start grunting. If Elmer is
starting to have some spinal issues, you would see that pattern with him. Desi
does sleep in bed with me, but when his back is hurting he wants to be further
away from me and from Dolly.
Do you see that when you touch him somewhere around his sides or top of his
back he will do the growling or grunting? I would think that a belly band
would be uncomfortable if he is having some spinal issues. Desi will also
start to walk very slowly.
I agree with all the posts that I read - he needs to be seen by a vet. The
sudden changes in his behavior are a clue that there is something else there
that needs to be addressed.
Does he look OK when he walks?? These little guys have a way of hiding their
pain...When Dolly's knee was bad, I had her to the vet several times because
she was 'vibrating' and it turned out that when Desi accidentally stepped on
her while she was under the blanket her knee was badly hurt...but she just went
on and was shaking a lot. A good vet will be able to diagnose from what you
tell him/her and results of any test that may be indicated to diagnose.
Good luck! Prayers for you and Elmer.
