Surely the burn in test should be done at a elevated temperature & not
in the room temp. For these purpose you may get a burn in oven (Hakko make
or equivalent), that is specially made for this purpose. In these type of
ovens you can control the temperature as well as humidity according to your
requirement.
Speaking about your product, first you've to define the max operating
temperature for your product & test it for a temperature slightly greater
than max operating temp. for a predefined period (say 6 to 8 hrs.). Hope
this will help you.

Does anybody have any info or sources on initial burn-in
testing of electronic products. For example, I have a
prototype product consisting of an embedded MCU and some
digital and analog I/O. I would like to develop a burn
in procedure. Should it be done at room temp. or at an
elevated temp ? If anyone has any expertise in this area
I would really appreciate some advice on where I could find this type of
information.

A Google search turned up many contract manufacturing services, but no
specific procedural information.

Thanks,
Jeff
