I find EPN very helpful in keeping with what is new out there. Now, "new" is a relative term. I have found very often that "new" components as advertised have been around for a couple of years, which is not a bad thing if you have never noticed them before.
The only availability problems I have had with new parts have been with Maxim parts, maybe because they are that good. Usually the parts that I am interested in are in heavy allocation. Or, I have to buy a 5000-unit reel, when I only need 5 parts. In the end, reality sets in and I end up buying Linear Tech parts that are just as good and always available.
