I'm almost certain that you did it, but did you follow the
manufacturer's guidelines during the installation? Installing hardware
under XP often is not straight forward and might significantly differ
from the procedures for Win98 or even Win2k.

The first golden rule in my experience is to let WinXP detect the new
hardware and then just point it to the drivers. On the other hand I
have also seen hardware were you needed to install the driver first,
before you even were supposed to have the hardware in the vicinity of
the computer.

Normally you should either find detailed descriptions, or a FAQ list
or a discussion forum on the manufacturers' homepages.
