Elbert,

I tried to install a PCI MODEM in a PC running XP just a few days ago and run into
similar problems. In fact, the machine blue screened on me several times (something
that B Gates PROMISED that we never see again on Win 98 and up). It would give a blue
screen with about 1/2 page of white text for less than 1 second and then crash
completely. I was never able to read any of what it said. Afterward I would find MANY
cross-linked and corrupted files. Most of them seemed to be related to the MODEM
driver. Other times it would partially complete the installation and then quit and
tell me that it couldn't finish but never gave a reason. I spent all afternoon trying
to install the MODEM and finally gave up and gave the machine back to it's owner and
told him that I couldn't help him.

In my opinion, XP is the biggest piece of trash yet from MicroSlouth!

     Joe
