Hi Bob,
The data sheet of the bq26200 definitely says N-channel JFET for the
regulator.  The purpose is suppose to be a low-cost regulator, lower
than buying a real regulator which I can get under $.49.  The IR
devices are more expensive that what I thought I could get the JFETs
for.  I was assuming about the same prices as a 2N3904.  Maybe not.

Perhaps looking for the wrong parts??  JFETs are not so common as
enhancement mode MOSFETs.
International Rectifier have lots of these and most carried by DigiKey.

They make excellent linear devices as well as great digital switches.
