CE> Hi Listmembers,

CE> I'm rebuilding a polarimeter that needs a DS1497. I'm finding that's not
CE> an easy device to obtain anymore. Seems they were discontinued in 1999.
CE> I've been doing a little websearching with not too much success. One

CE> Surely I can find something better than that!
CE> I'm open to suggestions. And the other question as always is.. is there a
CE> pin-for -pin replacement?
CE> Thanks for your time.

The DS1487 is one of those CMOS clock + RAM + Li battery hybrid
circuits in a 28 pin DIP package. According to MAXIM's website and
other data on the net, a lot of those have gone obsolete, but it
appears that the newer ones (DS12887) are pin-compatible replacements
just with more memory and possibly year-2000 compliant. You should
check with MAXIM directly - those folks normally are quite helpful!
