Is this a rectangular pin header with 2 rows and 5 contacts each,
where one pin is missing, or is it the layout of a 9pin sub-D header?
Only the 9pin sub-D layout is standardized.

If it is not a 9 pin sub-D header you have to look up the
manufacturer's specifications for your motherboard.

Then there is also the still unanswered part, if there is some empty
space possibly reserved for the port driver chip?

It would be much easier to help you if you could give us some hint on
the motherboard type and manufacturer - everything else is guessing in
the dark...

(which side of your motherboard is at the top and which is at the bottom???)
