Unfortunately some people use email or worse word! to send emails.
Ebay, amazon, farnell and other companies use html-mails too. So
deleting html mails is not longer possible today.

In the past I had some people that send me word files, but today word mails
are rare.

You need webspace that allows you to execute cgi-scripts, or a provider
that have a formmail.cgi already installed for its users (what is ntlworld?)
I am using the nms-formmail: http://www.scriptarchive.com/nms.html

Yes, the archives of the mailinglists are a problem. It would be fine, if
the email adresses could be hidden there (e.g. like groups.yahoo.com do it).
But it is not yet a problem. I use a special mail adr for every list, and I
have not get spams over that adresses (yet! ;-). Fortunately mutt allows
me to edit every line in the mail header. I wonder when they will discover
the pgp key servers ;-(.
