How stable?
I have a RS485 on the processor, so it should be in a range of around 1% over a temperature range of -40�C .. +25�C
A RC-oscillator is better in this case, maxim has some integrated parts (<2% deviation) or linear.com. There are also uC's that have internal RC-oscillators and a external crystal.
I'm quite sure, a RC will run away in this temparature range.
