I recently did some designs for a customer (They ordered the flex).
Some points:
- Long delivery, the fastest was about two weeks (express!!!)
- Quite expensive
- Round corners are important in the regions where the board is flexed
regularly
- I have no experiences with SMD on flex boards, ask the manufacturer
I did some pure flex boards for connecting two PCBs together and some
mixed stiff/flex boards. The components are always on the stiff part.
Those prints are for a high-end photo camera.
