BTW, I don't think it can be Ok in IE because the current IE's behavior is  
the same
as Chrome (violating the CSS standard). As noted in issue 3766, Firefox and  
trunk
webkit treat <font face="Symbol"> differently from <font  
style="font-family:Symbol">.
It's a decision/compromise made a long time ago in Mozilla bugzilla after a  
heated
debate.
Just FYI,
IE is not likely to change its behavior because MS office is perhaps the  
largest
"offender" in that its html export produces bullets styled  
with 'dingbat'-like fonts
whose code points are ASCII-range characters.
