New issue 5221 by jean.f.ackerman: "Save image as..." has a problem as of version 0.4.154.31 and 0.4.154.29 http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=5221 Chrome Version : 0.4.154.31 URLs (if applicable) : http://images.google.com/hosted/life/f? q=apollo+11+source:life&imgurl=fbff92de7d2845b3 URLs (if applicable) : http://www.google.com/ Other browsers tested: Add OK or FAIL after other browsers where you have tested this issue: Safari 3: OK Firefox 3: OK IE 7: OK What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Connect to any URL with a downloadable image, for example: http://images.google.com/hosted/life/f? q=apollo+11+source:life&imgurl=fbff92de7d2845b3 2. Right-click the image and select "Save image as..." 3. The "File name" field includes "c.jpg" and the "Save as type" field is BLANK. What is the expected result? In previous versions of Chrome and in all other browsers, the "Save as type" should be JPG. What happens instead? Instead, the "Save as type" is BLANK. Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if possible. If I rename the image to "Moon" in the "File name" field, and do not add any extension, I would expect Chrome to store the file as "Moon.jpg" -- INSTEAD, the file is saved as "Moonjpg" -- the jpg is appended to the end of the file name WITHOUT the period (dot). Something is broken. This problem occurs with all image types. For example, on the Google homepage, http://www.google.com/ , right-click the Google logo image and select "Save image as...", The "File name" field includes "logo.gif" and the "Save as type" field is BLANK. Same incorrect behavior trying to save the image. Something appears to have broken with Chrome as of version 0.4.154.31 (and 0.4.154.29; PRIOR to 0.4.154.29 this problem did not occur; at least I never noticed it until 0.4.154.29 was released on Dec. 1). -- You received this message because you are listed in the owner or CC fields of this issue, or because you starred this issue.
