Comment #5 on issue 7037 by jorat1346: Highlight unvisited tab
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=7037

Reply to dracoaffectus, I did consider to use italic, bold, and other color
for text and background, but no one did
match our requirements. Also, the color can be consirerated as too
aggressive, but that's what we need to catch your
attention. Once you have open multiple tab, you want to be aware of tab
that you haven't view yet. Also, I have talked
to few people here about it and asked to them what they were thinking about
the color and every one did actually agree
that the current color was perfect. Not only the color is correct, but
because it's not always present on your screen,
make it perfect. Remember that this colored tab will only appear when you
hit ctrl+click on a link.

Reply to tbeposts, there will be probably never a color choose or
something. Forever, you could change the color of it
by changing the chrome theme which make it perfect.

Reply to rablaridash, I will be very supprised that any users dislike it.
As for now, no one actually said that they
didn't like this feature nor the color, they just said the they were
thinking that the color was too aggressive. Also,
this feature need only very little code (Less than 10 lines of code
overall).
