This also happens in Safari4 and IE7. It's not clear to me whether it's a
gmail/reader bug or a webkit bug. Will file bugs with all the relevant
parties.

The reader bug is different (although probably that same core problem) in
that the
vertical height of the page is getting screwed up.
Both reader and gmail work fine in Firefox 3.2. There's a bit of janky
resizing that
goes on, but the end result looks correct.
In either case, I won't realistically be able to look into this in more
detail until
next week.
