Comment #15 on issue 4897 by rscosta: Chrome Middle-click Defeated on
My.Yahoo!
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=4897

Jon,

I realize it can be used for special purposes, as the gaming example you
mentioned.
However, you can notice this is not the case here. They are just using it
to prevent
us from opening a simple page in a new tab. Reason? None. Why are they
messing with
middle click if they are using THE SAME function set for left click?? If
both buttons
do the same thing, their only will is to limit tabbed browsing advantages.

Organizing our navigation is what tabs are made for. Tabs are for users not
for page
makers. They are OUR resource to open multiple pages at the same time
without all
those annoying windows. Can't Chrome block only this kind of abusive middle
click
configuration? If not, I agree it should remain allowed for it is an
interesting
resource for other kind of applications (eventhough we would need to cope
with these
abusive configurations). Anyway, why not even the "Control + Left click" is
opening
new tabs? Do we really need to rely only on the "right click + open in new
tab"?

I shall wait for that extension you mentioned.

Thank you,
Rafael Costa
