I'm pretty sure my speculative fix is not correct, since I've been able to
reproduce
(thanks to jar) the problem using one of eroman's torture tests:
1. Navigate to http://www/~ericroman/tmp/many-requests-img-src.html
2. Let the browser idle for 30-60 seconds
3. Open a new tab
4. Close the first tab
5. Wait a bit until you crash
I have a new CL that fixes the actual problem

but I'm rethinking its implementation.
