This is not a regression. Google Chrome 2.0.172.31 shows the same behavior.
Firefox 3.0/3.5 (Windows) and Safari 4.0.1(5530.18) (Mac Leopard) also show
the same behavior.
Internet Explorer 7.0.6001.18000 goes back to the page where you were on
before
opening www.twitter.com.
I'd conclude that this is not a bug: Chrome is working as good as it
reasonably gets.
