I believe this requires a process transition to occur. In Evan's case  
above, it
actually won't (just Google and Yahoo), but I believe when you mash on the  
buttons
you end up sometimes going to the new tab page which makes it happen.  
Interestingly,
this does not appear to be sufficient. You need *two* regular pages and a  
new tab
page.

I think the is a race when one of the two regular tabs has a pending loads  
complete,
but we've already switched to the new tab page, or vice versa.

Note that it doesn't actually exit Chrome. It closes the current tab which  
will have
the same effect if it's the only tab.
