The command line to limit the disk cache size is already on the beta  
channel so that
may be somewhat useful to you. I have been measuring overall performance  
effects
related to the disk cache size and I'm sure there is an effect, but for  
more than 99%
of the people it is better to have the larger cache size that we have now.  
Yes, we'll
have to solve the issue for the case when we increase the latency.

Incidentally, can you repeat the test of loading a lot of tabs (with the  
biggest
cache) and  tell me how about:histograms/PendingIO looks for you? You may  
have to use
that browser for a while before having anything there.

Finally, the overall size of the profile data is covered by issue 16705.
