New issue 19430 by vtjballeng: cannot use adobe reader to view pdf in your
web browser. reader will now exit. please exit your browser and try again.
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=19430

Chrome Version : 2.0.172.39
URLs (if applicable) : any new web pdf file (http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-
pdf/fw4.pdf)
Other browsers tested:
Add OK or FAIL after other browsers where you have tested this issue:
   Firefox 3.x: OK
          IE 8: OK

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open Chrome and open any new pdf file. (the error screen does not re-
appear when opening the same link again)
2.
3.

What is the expected result?
Seamless opening in Chrome as happens in IE or FF.

What happens instead?
The attached screenshot a blank PDF Pro Window with the following error
"cannot use adobe reader to view pdf in your web browser. reader will now
exit. please exit your browser and try again." Despite the error, if you
click ok on this dialog box, the Chrome window will still try to load the
file.

Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if
possible.

This case was erroneously dismissed in Issue# 11551. This happens on a
workstation with plugins properly associated Using Adobe Pro 8.1.3 or
8.1.4. Affected users appear to be overwhelmingly using Adobe Pro. There
are many strong logistical reasons to have Adobe Pro x.x.x and ask NOT to
have Adobe Reader y.y.y installed for proper function within the web
browser. All other web browsers tested worked fully with Adobe Pro 8.1.3
and this issue is specific to Chrome only.

No problem with the same installation on Windows XP SP3 using older Adobe
Pro 8.1.2. The issue only appeared with Windows 7 x64 RTM with Adobe Pro
8.1.3.
