The downside to this would be that if you ever want to change your login on  
a site
that had a bunch of different paths that you might have logged in under  
(which isn't
really all that rare), you'd have to keep changing your default login over  
and over
until you covered all the different paths.

It might be worth trying to do something a bit more clever, like only start  
forking
passwords by path when someone uses account A on URL A, account B on URL B,  
and
then account A on URL A again, since at that point it's more clear that B  
isn't just the
new account for the whole domain.
