New issue 22424 by andrewsoltau: Chromium does not work as default browser
because of 'Chromium Dev Build' warning page
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=22424

Chrome Version       : 4.0.212.0 (Ubuntu build 26556) <include svn revno;
e.g. dpkg -s chromium-browser> 4.0.212.0~svn20090918r26556-
0ubuntu1~ucd1~jaunty

OS + version : Ubuntu 9,04 Jaunty
CPU architecture (32-bit / 64-bit): 32 bit
window manager : Gnome
URLs (if applicable) : all
Behavior in Firefox 3.x (if applicable):
Behavior in Chrome for Windows (optional):

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Simply set Chromium to be the default browser.
2. Click on a link in the email client.
3. Chromium comes up with two tabs. The tab with the focus shows only
about:linux-splash page, and the default page in the other tab.

What is the expected result?
The browser should come up displaying the URL of the link, but this is not
one of the two tabs shown.

What happens instead?
Up comes chromium, quick as a flash, with the about:linux-splash page, and
the default page in the other tab. No page with the content I want to see!

Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot
and backtrace if possible.

I can't find any way to change this in the settings, and I've had a quick
look in the source files, but couldn't see any accessible way to change
startup behaviour. I posted to the chromespot forum, but no one's been able
to help.

This isn't really a bug as such, but I thought you would want someone to
bring it to your attention, because it means that most of us are going to
have to use a different browser for the default. But perhaps this is your
intention, if so, sorry to have taken your time.
