This will be fixed by removing the splash. :-)

It's a horrible hack, but I think that you can actually make Chrome *not*  
load the
about:linux-splash page when it's called externally with a URL by setting  
the home
page option *to* about:linux-splash.  You'll probably want to change it  
back to the
new tab page when the splash goes away.

(That being said, I don't know what exactly is being accomplished by making  
it so
difficult for users to get rid of the splash page, but it's probably not  
worth
spending much time to fix at this point.)
