Comment #30 on issue 19587 by rjd444: Chromium Fails to call adobe to open PDFs files http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=19587
I was using Adobe Acrobat 5.0 as my PDF reader without issues. After upgrading my reader to the Adobe Reader 9.2, I started having issues. Within the first couple days of the Reader install I got a message something like "Adobe is not working correctly with your browser, would you like to fix this issue?". I answered yes and after a couple cycles of this, the message stopped appearing. When I click on a hyperlink to a PDF, most open fine, but a few don't. When they don't, the Chrome window either turns white and locks up (I have to close it) or turns grey. In the latter case, the window is still usuable - for example I can enter a new URL and go there. In the former case, I can't even get a cursor to appear in the location box. (1) I uninstalled Adobe Reader and updated my windows file associations to go back to Acrobat. This does correct the problem. (2) With reader still uninstalled, I uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome. This has not fixed it either. (3) If I right-click the hypertext link and download it, then open from the download list at the bottom, Chrome correctly launches Acrobat in a separate window and opens the file. The only problem is when I click on a hypertext link in a window and I'm expecting the PDF to launch in the browser window. -Bob -- You received this message because you are listed in the owner or CC fields of this issue, or because you starred this issue.
