Comment #8 on issue 12189 by darthandroid: Chrome beta browser keeps freezing http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=12189
I am seeing a similar problem with Chrome 4.0.223.11 / Win7 x64 (RTM release - 7600, and rc release before that - 7128) From what I've seen it seems that the updates between the renderer and the CromeUI freeze momentarily for a few seconds, somewhere between 4-7 seconds once triggered. I can switch tabs, interact with the omnibar, and buttons such as forward/back and bookmarks all hover and otherwise update visually while the rendering space appears frozen (rendering space being anything below the bookmark bar, where the webpage, including scrollbars would appear). This is not limited to just one tab, as switching tabs leaves me with a white render space until it 'unfreezes' and updates the screen again. Anything that would normally interact with the tab in some way seem to happen all at once when the tab unfreezes - typing, scrolling, even closing a tab will be delayed until chrome 'unfreezes' As for triggers it seems random, though I have noticed it occurring often when hovering a link or clicking on a link. It's probably contributed to 30% of the time spent typing in this text box. To remedy the problem I have tried: Clearing cache/cookies/history Loading a new (empty) profile Reinstalling chrome There are no CPU spikes either in task manager or in chrome task manager. I can't reproduce this on my laptop (win7 x86) or any of my friends computers. I can't pin down anything specific about causes, though if there are any suggestions on how to begin to debug this or tools I should go grab please let me know. Currently my desktop has a very similar configuration as my laptop in OS updates and applications, the only exception being the architecture. -- You received this message because you are listed in the owner or CC fields of this issue, or because you starred this issue.
