Comment #40 on issue 3977 by [email protected]: Chrome doesn't launch Adobe reader when the option not to open pdf's in a browser is set http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=3977
Basically, Firefox is doing the same thing as Chrome. When you click on the PDF link, it saves the file, however it does bring up a dialog box asking you if you want to view the file with the PDF viewer. In Chrome, if you click on the "Always Open Files..." (I don't remember exactly what it says, but it's in the dialog box when you save the file), it does the same thing - it saves the file to disk, then opens it in the PDF reader. I also tested it in IE8, and it does the same thing as Firefox. So apparently if you want to open a PDF in the browser window, you need to use Adobe Reader. The 3rd party readers save it to disk, then open it in the reader. I'm not sure why, but maybe that's the way they are supposed to work? -- You received this message because you are listed in the owner or CC fields of this issue, or because you starred this issue.
