I tried reproing this in 4.0.221.6 and was actually asked to save my
password with
invalid credentials because the form that shows up on the second page (that
tells you
you entered invalid credentials) has a different origin than the original
page.
I therefore believe that we do (as of 4.0.221.6) prompt for saving
passwords with valid
credentials (I can't test for sure, because I can't create an account
without a +91
