Looks like I've caught my white whale; this is not a WebKit "bug", but both
Chrome and
Safari likely still fail for the same reason. This is an instance of issue
28910;
vBulletin installs an onsubmit handler that clears out the password value
and stuffs
md5 hashes into hidden fields.
