Comment #40 on issue 3041 by asmussen: DNS pre-fetching causes frequent
internet loss
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=3041

I'd like to chime in to the pool of "this isn't working, and it's causing
me grey hairs".

What happens is this:

1. I open a fresh Chrome dev channel on Windows 7.
2. I load a page. One consistently "not working" page is
http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
3. The spinner keeps spinning and the screen is just blank. The page title
does load,
and if I click View Source, I can see the _entire_ page source. Sometimes
if I spam
the "stop" and "reload" buttons, more and more of the page is revealed, but
the
spinner never stops.

I'm using Windows 7 64bit and Google Chrome dev channel v. 4.0.249.11.

Now here's the kicker, and why I think it's related to DNS issues.

If I load the very same page (http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/) in
Internet Explorer
8, the page loads instantly. Now, get this, if I keep the page open in IE,
then start
Chrome and load exactly the same URL, it loads INSTANTLY. No spinner
problems at all.

In addition to this, now the page is loaded, I can close IE. I can even
close Chrome,
start up Chrome again, and load the page again. No more odd spinners on the
specific
URL, it keeps loading snappy.

That is, until I open CMD and type "ipconfig /flushdns". That's when
the "spinner"
issues start again.

It makes no difference whether I have "Use DNS pre-fetching" on or off.

It should be noted that I have a flaky internet connection with a pretty
old router
(somewhere in this building) which is shared by too many people.
