Comment #41 on issue 3041 by Olli.Lyytinen: DNS pre-fetching causes frequent internet loss http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=3041
I recently switched to Chromium (4.0.262.0 Ubuntu build 33615) from Firefox on Ubuntu 9.04. I immediately got some network problems. All connections outside the intranet became very slow. However, outside connections from every other machine in the intranet worked fine. I did some tests with ping to various hosts and noticed that immediately after my router to outside network I got packet losses up to 80% but again only from the machine where I installed Chromium. I then checked the logs on the router and it had loads of "192.168.1.44 exceeds the max. number of session per host!" which apparently means nat sessions. Max nat sessions per host is set to 256. Turning off DNS pre-fetching in Chromium gets rid of all this and everything works fine but browsing a bit with pre-fetching enabled seems to fill the nat sessions on the router pretty fast which then results in very unresponsive outside connection. -- You received this message because you are listed in the owner or CC fields of this issue, or because you starred this issue.
