Well, no. As you can see here http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail? id=26809 you can't compile chromium (without major changes to the source) on RHEL/CentOS 5.4 because just too many dependencies (and that's NOT only package versions, but actually functions implemented in these newer versions, required by Chromium source) are missing.
