I think it's one of Unicode BiDi control characters that is rendered as an
empty box.
Vivian or Song, can you make a simple test case and upload it here? If
there isn't a
webkit layout test for them, we have to make one and contribute to the
upstream.
In Hebrew Chrome, you can go to the GAIA account creation page and copy a
string with
empty boxes and put it into an html file with 'dir=rtl'.
