Steps to reproduce (not verified, since I don't actually have
administrative access
to any Windows domain):
1. Create the folders users$ and users$\myname in the root directory of any
server
inside your domain.
2. Restrict access to users$ for all non-administrative users.
3. Move Chrome's profile directory into users$\myname and run chrome.exe
with --user-
data-dir=\\host\users$\myname\profile
Now you should be able to observe files not being written to, 0-byte .tmp
files being
created all around your profile, etc.
Note: I don't know whether that $-sign is actually relevant...
