Just to be clear, I wasn't intending this as a call to open the floodgates and allow a preference for every conceivable option, a la Seamonkey in Mozilla. With choice comes additional complexity, and that must be mediated with good usability, design, and most importantly, restraint. That's ignoring the additional development/testing/support/documentation overhead of each new option. Options for the sake of having options are never a good thing.
