More testing:
- 32-bit Linux laptop: 40fps, feels slow
- 64-bit beefy Linux desktop (maybe slower v8): 40fps, feels slow
- Julie's 4 year old Windows machine: 40fps, feels the same slow
- new insano Windows machine: 60fps, feels just right

I don't have a fast 32-bit Linux machine handy to determine whether
it's a Lin/Win thing or if it's just hardware.
