I have found that, for me at least, saving images through Google Chrome (as in, right click and save image as) becomes troublesome because Chrome does not allow you to simply choose what file type to save it as (.jpg, .gif, .png, etc) and instead saves it just as a file. To actually have a .jpg you must then open that file in paint and then re-save it as a jpg. I'm not sure if this is only for Vista or what else have you, but it should be easy to remedy.
