I think better access over keyword search shortcuts would be better than a drop down list. Chrome already creates keyword shortcuts when you use the search feature on other sites, but it would help if the user could manage their keyword shortcuts, that way a user could search yahoo.com by typing 'y' <tab> <search term>, or search amazon.com by typing 'a' <tab> <search term> This would be faster for searching other sites than using a drop down list.
