Alas, while I was very happy today to see that my Google Chrome for Linux had been updated to 3.0.194.0-r20577, my joy was tempered by the discovery that despite the update, my problems with entering CJK glyphs directly in text boxes like the present one remain. I am still unable to use SCIM to input these glyphs. But the update is welcome - even though Chrome continues to open to «about:linux-splash» (said to be necessary for the developers), I can now get to my home page by simply clicking the home-page button, which I was unable to do previously. I notice also that Unicode glyphs can now be entered directly into a text box on my Jaunty machine by performing «Ctrl+shift +u, glyph hexcode, space/Enter». It's possible that even earlier versions provided this option ; I didn't register exactly when it became available, but in any event, I'm glad to have it. Still, for writing Chinese or Japanese text, this method is not practical - I should therefore very much like to see an update that resolved the problem in using SCIM....
