I'm using 4.0.208.0 (26001) and this feature works just fine. I can ctrl+c anything and use 'paste and search' (if it isn't an URL) and 'paste and go' (if it is a URL) just by right-clicking the omnibox and select the last option in the context menu. I'm using aur/chromium-snapshot package from ArchLinux repositories...
